Rutgers Claims 24-11 Win Over Tigers; Ayala, Harner Hit 25-Win Mark

Princeton got victories from its three winningest wrestlers, including both Brett Harner (184) and Abram Ayala (197), both of whom reached the 25-win mark.
Harner was in total control of his 10-2 victory over Anthony Pafumi to claim his sixth win in the last seven matches. Ayala, currently ranked in the Top 15 in three major publications, followed with a 13-6 major over Hayden Hrymack to move to 25-4 on the season.
The first Tiger victory came from 2014 New Jersey state champion Jonathan Schleifer, who scored a 12-3 major decision over Nick Visicaro at 165 pounds. Schleifer has also own six of his last seven matches and could be one of the top freshmen to watch at next month's EIWA Championships.
Even some of Princeton's losses were close contests against nationally ranked opponents. Sophomore Jordan Laster pushed another former New Jersey state champion, No. 9 Anthony Ashnault, in a 3-2 loss, while junior Chris Perez fell 5-3 to Ken Theobold, another Top-20 competitor.
Princeton will conclude its regular season next weekend with three challenging matches, including a Friday night showdown at Rider. The Tigers will compete for second place in the Ivy League Saturday at noon when it travels to the Palestra for a showdown at Penn, and then will return to Dillon Gym for a 7 pm matchup against Nebraska.
