PRINCETON, N.J. (2/18/15) - It's the final weekend of hockey at Hobey Baker Rink this season and the Tigers will honor their six-member senior class prior to the Yale game on Saturday, Feb. 21. On Friday, Princeton hosts Brown. Both games begin at 7 p.m.
EYE ON THE TIGERS
Princeton is coming off of a three-point weekend that saw the Tigers defeat Clarkson 2-1 before a 1-1 tie with No. 20 St. Lawrence. The Tigers are now 4-17-3 overall and 2-14-2 in the ECAC with four games left in the regular season. Juniors Jonathan Liau and Kyle Rankin sit atop the scoring column, as Liau has four goals and eight assists, while Rankin has three goals and seven assists. THE PRINCETON/BROWN SERIES
Brown owns an 85-66-9 edge over Princeton in the all-time series that began in 1900-01. The teams split the series last year with Brown taking a 6-3 game at Hobey Baker Rink in November before Princeton won 3-2 in Providence in February. The teams skated to a 2-2 tie a few weeks ago in Providence. Tucker Brockett leads all active skaters against Brown with four assists, while Jonathan Liau has one goal and two assists. Colton Phinney is 1-0-1 against the Bears with a .200 GAA and a .943 save percentage.
SCOUTING THE BEARS
Brown is coming on strong in the final stretch of the ECAC season, having won the last three games and is 3-1-1 in its last five. Last weekend the Bears dominated Rensselaer, 6-3, before a 1-0 win over Union. The wins have pushed Brown past Princeton in the standings, as the Bears now have a three-point cushion over the Tigers. Junior Mark Naclerio and senior Matt Lorito lead the team in scoring with 17 and 16 points, respectively. Both have scored a team-best eight goals, while Naclerio has a team-high nine assists. THE PRINCETON/YALE SERIES
Princeton and Yale are meeting for the third time this season after facing each other in a non-conference game to start the 2014-15 season at the Liberty Hockey Invitational. That game resulted in a 2-2 tie with Yale winning a shootout to advance to the championship game. Yale then earned a 4-0 shutout on Jan. 30. Yale holds a 134-103-11 lead in more than 100-year old series and is 5-0-1 in the last six meetings. Princeton last win came on March 3, 2012 during the ECAC First Round Series.
