PRINCETON, N.J. (3/19/15) - Coming off of a win over No. 11 Penn State, the No. 13-ranked Princeton women's lacrosse team looks to keep the success coming as it resumes Ivy League action hosting Harvard on Saturday, March 21 at noon.
EYE ON THE TIGERS
Princeton is 5-1 overall and holds down the No. 13 ranking in both national polls. The Tigers are coming off of an 12-11 win over No. 11 Penn State from Wednesday, here on Sherrerd Field at Class of 1952 Stadium. Princeton is 1-0 in the Ivy League after a win at Dartmouth and is 3-0 at home this season. Sophomore Olivia Hompe sits atop the scoring column with 14 goals and seven assists for 21 points. Seniors Erin Slifer and Erin McMunn have 17 points apiece. Slifer has 12 goals and five assists, while McMunn has nine goals and eight helpers. Slifer leads the team in caused turnovers with six and ground balls with 10, while McMunn leads the team in draw controls with 16 and is second in caused turnovers with five. Junior Stephanie Paloscio adds eight goals and five assists, and classmate Anya Gersoff has seven points with five goals. Sophomore goalie Ellie DeGarmo is 5-1 in goal and has a .505 save percentage and an 8.69 goals against average.
THE SERIES
Princeton leads the all-time series with Chris Sailer alma mater 27-18 and are 16-6 when hosting Harvard in Princeton. The Tigers have won the last two meetings, 15-6 and 11-9. Harvard hasn't had an answer for Erin McMunn has she has scored nine goals and two assists in three meetings. Erin Slifer averages 3.0 points per game with six goals and three assists.
SCOUTING THE CRIMSON
Harvard comes into the weekend with a 3-2 overall record and is 1-0 in the Ivy League after a win over Columbia in the opener. Most impressive is a one-goal loss to No. 5 Syracuse during a trip to Florida last Saturday. That game two days before a 17-5 win at Stetson. Sophomore Marisa Romeo and junior Audrey Todd have combined for 44 percent of Harvard's goals. Romeo has 16 goals and five assists for 21 points, while Todd has 10 tallies and four assists for 14 points. Sophomore Megan Hennessey follows up with a team-best seven helpers and six goals for 13 points. Hennessey and Todd are the team's draw control leaders with 12 and 10, respectively. Sophomore defender Emma Ford has a team-high 13 ground balls and is one of five players with four caused turnovers. Junior Kelly Weis has played all by 20 minutes in goal. She has a .500 save percentage and a 9.01 GAA.
