PRINCETON, N.J. (4/11/15) - Princeton squares off with Penn in a battle of the two Ivy League unbeatens on Wednesday night. Game time is at 7 p.m., at Franklin Field.
EYE ON THE TIGERS
The Tigers are 9-3 overall and ranked No. 13 in the latest IWLCA poll. Princeton is coming off of a 13-11 win at Cornell from Saturday to improve to 4-0 in the Ivy League. Senior Erin Slifer sits atop the scoring column with 44 points on 27 goals and 17 assists. Sophomore Olivia Hompe has a team-high 30 goals and adds 12 assists for 42 points. Junior Stephanie Paloscio has 28 points on 17 goals and 11 helpers, while senior Erin McMunn has 15 goals and 10 assists in 10 games. Sophomore Anna Doherty and junior Anya Gersoff chip in 17 and 14 points, respectively. The pair are the leaders around the center circle with Gersoff winning 26 draws and Doherty 21. Slifer has a team-high 20 ground balls and is second on the team in caused turnovers with 10. Only Doherty has more with 11. Sophomore Ellie DeGarmo has started in the last 11 games in goal and has a 7-3 record with a 10.02 goals against average and a .459 save percentage. Senior Annie Woehling is 2-0 in just over 120 minutes of action with a 9.24 GAA and a .367 save percentage.
THE SERIES
Princeton holds a one-goal lead over Penn in the all-time series, 21-20-3. The Tigers are 12-10 when playing at Franklin Field - though the last win there was in the 2011 Ivy League Tournament semifinals, a 10-8 victory. The teams split last year, when Princeton defeated Penn 9-5 during the regular season. It was the Quakers that took the Ivy League Championship game, 9-6, on Princeton's home field. Senior Erin McMunn has 13 points on 11 goals in four games against the Quakers, while Erin Slifer has eight points and nine draws in her four games. Annie Woehling is 1-2 with a 9.00 GAA and a .386 save percentage.
SCOUTING THE QUAKERS
Penn is 10-2 overall and ranked No. 11 in the IWLCA poll. With a 4-0 Ivy League record, the Quakers have defeated Brown 9-7, Dartmouth 10-5, Columbia 10-1 and Harvard 8-6. The team's lone losses were a 9-8 overtime game at No. 6 Northeastern and a 12-7 loss at No. 1 Maryland. Tory Benson is the team's leading scorer with 38 goals and four assists for 42 points. Nina Corcoran is second with 37 points on a team-best 22 assists and 15 tallies. Iris Williamson adds 26 goals and four assists, while Lely DeSimone chips in 19 goals and three assists. Meg Markham is the team leader in draw controls with 32 and caused turnovers with 33. She also ranks second in ground balls with 20, with only Megan Kelly having more with 23. Lucy Ferguson has started in all 12 games and is 10-2 with a 6.52 goals against average and a .521 save percentage.
