PRINCETON, N.J. (4/2/15) - The Princeton women's lacrosse team takes a 7-2 record on the road for the next four games. The Tigers first stop off at Yale and look to remain undefeated in the Ivy League. Game time is at 12 p.m., on Saturday, April 4 at Reeves Stadium.
EYE ON THE TIGERS
Princeton looks to regroup after suffering a 12-10 setback to Delaware on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers are now 7-2 overall and ranked No. 15 in the latest IWLCA poll and No. 16 in the Inside Lacrosse poll. With a 2-0 Ivy League record, the Tigers look to stay in first place in the standings - where Penn and Cornell also sit with undefeated records. Sophomore Olivia Hompe and senior Erin Slifer have provided the most firepower this season. Hompe has 34 points with 25 goals and nine assists, while Slifer has 20 goals and a team-best 12 assists for 32 points. Junior Stephanie Paloscio adds 13 goals and 10 assists. Senior Erin McMunn has missed the last two games with an injury, but remains one of the team's leading scorer with 17 points in seven games. Junior Anya Gersoff and sophomore Anna Doherty chip in 13 and 11 points, respectively. Doherty leads the team around the center circle with 18 draws, while Gersoff and McMunn have 17 apiece. Doherty is tops in caused turnovers with 10, and got a big lift in that number after four against Delaware. Slifer is second with eight, and also adds a team-high 15 ground balls. Sophomore Ellie DeGarmo is 6-2 in goal and has started the last eight games. She has a 9.71 goals against average and a .468 save percentage. Senior Annie Woehling is 1-0 with a 7.57 GAA and a .286 save percentage in two games.
THE SERIES
Princeton owns a 26-14-1 edge in the all-time series with Yale. When playing in New Haven, the Tigers hold a one-game lead, 11-10-1. Princeton has won the last seven meetings, with Yale's last win a 6-5 game in New Haven on April 7, 2007. Erin McMunn has 13 points (8-5-13) in three games, while Erin Slifer has six (2-4-6). Liz Bannantine averages three caused turnovers a game against Yale, while Annie Woehling is 2-0 in goal against Yale with a 6.00 GAA and a .571 save percentage.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Yale is 6-5 on the season and has won its last two games, a 14-6 win over BU and a 12-6 win over San Diego State, as it is midway through a four-game homestand. The Bulldogs are 1-2 in the Ivy League, defeating Brown and losing to Cornell and Columbia. Seniors Kerri Fleishhacker and Erin Magnuson lead the team in scoring. Fleishhacker has 28 points on 17 goals and 11 assists, while Magnuson has 27 points on 14 goals and 13 assists. Sophomore Tess McEvoy follows up with 20 points and senior Christina Doherty (Anna's sister) has 19 points. Doherty is also first in the league in ground balls with 25 and second on the team in caused turnovers with 15. Senior Cathryn Avallone and sophomore Hope Hanley add depth with 12 points apiece. Junior Nicole Daniggelis has a team-best 33 draw controls, while sophomore Victoria Moore boasts a team-high 16 caused turnovers. Senior Erin Mullins is 6-5 in goal and has a 7.30 GAA, which ranks second in the Ivy League, and a .503 save percentage, third in the Ivy League.
