PRINCETON, N.J. (4/22/15) - The Princeton women's lacrosse team looks to earn the 2015 Ivy League title outright on Saturday, April 25 when it hosts Brown at 1 p.m.
EYE ON THE TIGERS
Princeton clinched at least a share of the Ivy League title and hosting rights for the Ivy League tournament last Saturday with a 12-6 win over Columbia. The win improved the Tigers to 11-3 overall and 5-0 in the Ivy League. Princeton is now ranked No. 10 in the latest national poll.
Senior Erin Slifer pushed herself over the 50-point mark last week as she sits with 52 points on 33 goals and a team-high 19 assists. Only sophomore Olivia Hompe has more goals, with 37, while adding 12 assists for 49 points. Junior Stephanie Paloscio contributes 18 goals and 15 assists for 33 points, and senior Erin McMunn is one point back with 29. Sophomore Anna Doherty has scored 17 times and has 19 points, while junior Anya Gersoff adds 16 assists on 13 goals and three helpers. Gersoff is has a team-best 27 draw controls, while Doherty and McMunn have won 22 apiece. Doherty is the team leader in caused turnovers with 14, while Slifer has 12 herself and a team-best 22 ground balls. Sophomore Ellie DeGarmo has played in all 14 games and is 9-3 with a .452 save percentage and a 9.22 goals against average. Senior Annie Woehling is 2-0 with a .324 save percentage and a 10.31 GAA.
THE SERIES
Princeton holds a 32-4 lead in the all-time series with Brown since the teams first met in 1980. The Tigers had a 23-game win streak in the series come to an end last year when Brown took a 14-13 overtime game in Providence. Senior Erin McMunn has 11 points in three games against Brown and 10 draw controls. Senior Annie Woehling is 1-0 with a 9.12 GAA and a 2.29 save percentage.
SCOUTING THE LIONS
Brown heads into its final game with a .500 record of 7-7. The Bears are 1-5 in the Ivy League with their win being a 7-6 game over Columbia on April 11. Last weekend the team dropped a 10-6 game at Dartmouth.
Junior Lauren Toy sits atop the scoring column with 25 goals and eight assists for 33 points. Senior Jamie Glon has 18 goals and nine assists for 27 points, while classmate Abby Bunting adds 20 on 13 goals and seven helpers. Senior midfielder Alyssa DiBona is the team leader in the three supplemental stat categories with 52 draw controls, 14 caused turnovers and 22 ground balls. Senior Kellie Roddy has started in all 14 games and has played all but 18 minutes. She has a .500 save percentage and a 13.21 GAA.
