Bannantine, Hompe, McMunn and Slifer Earn All-Region Honors

PRINCETON, N.J. (5/11/15) - Four members of the Princeton women's lacrosse team have been named all-region it was announced today by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association.
Senior Erin Slifer and sophomore Olivia Hompe were named first-team all-region, while senior Erin McMunn and junior Liz Bannantine were named second-team all-region.
Slifer and Hompe are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-America teams, which will be announced on Monday, May 18.
"We're so proud of the honors that Erin, Erin, Olivia and Liz have garnered this year," head coach Chris Sailer said. "Their work ethic, passion for the game, leadership and competitiveness on the field of play have set them apart this spring and helped Princeton to our best record since 2004. We're so excited for all that lies ahead for our team, and happy for the well deserved honors that have come our players' way."
The Ivy League Midfielder of the Year, Slifer captures her second all-region honor. A two-time first-team All-Ivy Leaguer, Slifer was named the National Player of the Week twice this season and was a three-time Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week. On this season's Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List, Slifer leads the team in scoring with 70 points on 41 goals and a team-high 29 assists. She adds 23 draw controls, 12 caused turnovers and 25 ground balls. Slifer is two goals away from scoring her 100th career goal and ranks ninth all-time in scoring with 178 points. She is third in program history in assists with 80 and eighth in draw controls with 104.
A unanimous first-team selection Hompe is Princeton's leading goal scorer. She has 53 tallies and adds 16 points for 69 points, just one out of first place. She chips in 27 draws, 26 ground balls and nine caused turnovers. She scored her 100th point this season, becoming just the fourth player in Princeton history to reach 100 points as a sophomore. Hompe is currently riding an 18-game goal-scoring streak. The Ivy League Tournament MVP after scoring nine goals in two games. This weekend in the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament, Hompe scored five goals and added one assist.
This is the first all-region honor for Bannantine. A first-team All-Ivy League defender, Bannantine has started and played in 17 games. She is third on the team in caused turnovers with 11 while adding 15 ground balls and 11 draw controls. Her best outing of the season, statistically, game against No. 13 Penn State when she picked off a pass with 16 seconds left and Princeton up one goal. It was her third caused turnover of the game, while she also won three ground balls. On Sunday, in the second round of the NCAA tournament, Bannantine forced No. 6 Stony Brook into three turnovers.
This is the third all-region honor for McMunn. A two-time All-America and a three-time Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List nominee, McMunn is a four-time all-Ivy League attacker. The 2012 Ivy League Rookie of the Year and the 2013 Ivy League Attacker of the Year, McMunn currently ranks third on the team in scoring. She has 47 points on 29 goals and 18 assists, while adding 25 draws, 10 ground balls and six caused turnovers. The Princeton all-time record holder for assists, with 91, ranks 11th in goals with 131. With 221 career points, McMunn currently is a tie for second place in all-time scoring with Lindsey Biles '05. In addition, she ranks ninth in career draw controls with 101.
Princeton faces No. 3 seed Duke in the NCAA quarterfinals on Saturday, May 16 at 1 p.m.
