Slifer '15 Named Assistant Coach at Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (7/28/15) - Recent Princeton graduate and All-American women's lacrosse player Erin Slifer '15 has been named assistant coach at Fairfield University, the University announced on Tuesday.
Fairfield is coached by Princeton alum Laura Field '00, who has been an associate and assistant at Faifield was seven seasons before taking over at the end of the 2015 season.
“I am honored to have the chance to begin my coaching career at Fairfield University,” Slifer said. “I would like to thank Laura Field for giving me this amazing opportunity, and I can't wait to begin working with her and the student athletes at Fairfield.”
"As a coach it's always rewarding and makes you proud when one of your players wants to go into the profession," Princeton head coach Chris Sailer said. "Slifer was a great leader for us as a senior captain, and knows the game so well. I think she's going to be a great coach and has the ability to impact the lives of the players that she coaches and the program at Fairfield in a really positive way. I'm excited she's going to continue learning from a great Tiger, Laura Field."
A second-team All-America selection, Slifer was unanimously selected as the Ivy League Midfielder of the Year. A first-team all-region and all-league player, Slifer was a two-time national Player of the Week. Her other accolades from the season include: first-team All-ECAC, Ivy League All-Tournament Team, Inside Lacrosse preseason and mid-season All-America honors, Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List, IWLCA/DeBeer Division I North-South All-Star Game selection, member of Team STX. This season she led the Tigers in scoring with 71 points on 41 goals and 30 assists as Princeton won the Ivy League, Ivy League Tournament and reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament. In the first round of tournament, it was Princeton defeating Fairfield 18-8.
Slifer finished her Princeton career ranked ninth on the all-time scoring list with 179 points. She ranks second all-time in assists with 81 and eighth in draw controls with 104.
