2014 SEASON RECAP
• Princeton struggled to gain traction in 2014, going 0-5 with a pair of forfeits to Army and Penn.
• The Tigers' defense allowed 426.0 yards of total offense and 56.4 points per game last season.
• Faring better against the pass, Princeton finished third in the CSFL in pass defense (147.0 ypg), but last against the run (279.0 ypg).
• Offensively, the Tigers gained 103.8 yards of total offense per game, including 110.8 ypg through the air.
• Despite the squad's struggles, Princeton placed seven players on the All-CSFL Team.
LEADING THE WAY
• Mulay Sarbanes, Spencer Haldeman, and Max Skelly will serve as the Tigers' tri-captains this season.
• Last season, Sarbanes saw action on both sides of the ball, making his biggest impact on the defense with 14 tackles (7 solo) and a fumble recovery.
• Haldeman recorded 13 tackles (8 solo) with a sack and forced fumble last year, while Skelly earned honorable mention honors as an offensive lineman.
TOP RETURNERS
• Princeton will look to veteran quarterback Chad Cowden to lead the Tiger offense.
• In 2013, Cowden finished fourth in the CSFL in passing yardage (1,016). His 195 pass attempts and eight touchdowns each ranked third on the program's single-season charts, while his 81 completions sit fourth.
• Last season, Cowden completed just 56 of his 173 attempts (32.4) for 554 yards (110.8 ypg), two touchdowns and 18 interceptions.
• Honorable mention All-CSFL selection Max Skelly returns to the offensive line, alongside the team's second-leading rusher in 2014, Emanuel Castaneda.
• Mulay Sarbanes and Harvey Butler also got carries out of the Tiger backfield last season. Butler finished second on the team in all-purpose yards (43.0 ypg), with a total of 195 return yards.
• Tyler Kaye and Patrick Yu are the team's top returning wide receivers.
• Honorable mention selection Mark Nowicki is the Tigers' top returning defender, making 17 tackles (11 solo) a year ago with a sack.
COACHING STAFF
• Sean Morey returns for his second season on the Princeton sidelines along with assistants John Angelucci and John Dowgin.
• A 1999 graduate of Brown, Morey was the Ivy League Player of the Year in 1997 and was drafted in the seventh round of the 1999 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots.
• Morey eventually landed with the Pittsburgh Steelers after a stop with the Philadelphia Eagles, serving as a special teams captain during the team's Super Bowl run in 2006. The following season, Morey joined the Arizona Cardinals where he made a Pro Bowl and second Super Bowl appearance.
• Assistant coaches Steve Doran and Jason Petrone enter their first seasons on the Tigers' staff.
• Joe Caulfield will serve as the team's administrative assistant, while David Laughlin will work with Princeton as a video consultant. Kendall Bedford and Alex Momenee will serve as the team's managers.
WHAT'S AT STAKE
• The 2014 campaign extended the Tigers' winless streak to 61 games dating back to the 2005 season.
• The Orange & Black's last win came on Nov. 4, 2005 in a non-CSFL game against Virginia Military Institute (a club team), 19-7.
• The Tigers' last victory over a varsity opponent came in the 1999 season opener against Cornell, 12-7.
• A Princeton win against Chestnut Hill would end a winless streak of 101 consecutive games against a varsity sprint program.
• In 2012, the Tigers narrowly missed out on an opportunity to snap the streak, falling to Post University in overtime at Princeton Stadium, 32-29.
• Princeton's opponent, Chestnut Hill, begins its inaugural sprint football season as the ninth team to join the CSFL.
• Saturday's game will be played at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School. Kick-off is set for 12 p.m.
