Princeton Sprint Football Set to Host Army in Home Opener

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University sprint football team will host Army in its home opener on Friday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m.
Coming off of a 48-13 loss to Chestnut Hill, the Tigers will look to snap a streak of 102 consecutive games without a win over a CSFL opponent dating back to 1999. Cruising to a 34-0 victory over Post last week, Army has shut out Princeton in five of the last six meetings.
Friday's game will be broadcast on the Ivy League Digital Network. Live stats will also be available.
LAST TIME OUT: PRINCETON
• The Tigers opened their 2015 season with a 48-13 loss to Chestnut Hill.
• Holding onto a 14-7 lead at the end of the first quarter, the Griffins rattled off 27 unanswered points to take a 34-point lead into the final period.
• Chestnut Hill rolled up 436 yards of total offense. Averaging 6.8 yards per carry, the Griffins picked up 265 yards on the ground and 192 yards through the air.
• Princeton finished with 275 yards of total offense.
• The Tigers' Chad Cowden completed 11 of his 23 pass attempts for 163 yards, a touchdown, and three interceptions.
• Tyler Kaye led Princeton in receiving with six catches for 110 yards and a score. Harvey Butler was the Tigers' leading rusher, picking up 25 yards on 10 carries.
• Defensively, Marvin Moore led the Tigers with 4.5 tackles (4 solo), while Kris Garris made four stops (3 solo). Butler made 3.5 tackles and had an interception.
LAST TIME OUT: ARMY
• Army cruised to a 34-0 victory over Post University in its season opener.
• Up 17-0 at the half, the Black Knights added a touchdown in the third before tacking on 10 more points in the final frame.
• Gaining 232 rushing yards, Army allowed just 51 yards (1.8 ypc) on the ground.
• While the Black Knights held a 422-318 edge in total yards, Post outgained Army through the air, 267-190.
• Mitch Wear completed 8-of-16 passes for 126 yards, a touchdown, and an interception, while Brady Miller completed four of his six pass attempts for 52 yards and a score.
• Picking up 6.2 yards per carry, Marqus Burrell led Army in rushing with 112 yards and a score.
• Ty Galyean was had one reception for 69 yards, while Tucker Van Dyke finished with three catches for 40 yards and a touchdown.
• On the defensive side of the ball, Shaq Tolbert made a team-high eight tackles (7 solo) with a sack and forced fumble. Ryan Gallagher had seven tackles (6 solo) and a forced fumble.
• Leading the way for a unit that helped force six turnovers, Tanner Andrews made a pair of interceptions and recovered a fumble. Nathan Lopez, Jack Barnett, and Matthew Tamburri each had a pick.
LAST MEETING:
• Princeton forfeited last season's meeting against Army.
• In 2013, the Tigers dropped a 57-0 decision to the Black Knights.
• Scoring 20 points in the first quarter, Army added a pair of touchdowns in the second before tallying 23 more points following the intermission.
• Princeton managed just 60 yards of total offense, losing 55 yards on the ground, while gaining 115 through the air.
• Sacked four times, Princeton's Chad Cowden completed just 11 of his 37 pass attempts while throwing three interceptions and losing a fumble.
• Picking up 72 yards on the ground, Army completed 14-of-19 passes for 173 yards.
