Men's Squash Falls 8-1 To No. 2 Penn, Heads To No. 1 Trinity Sunday
January 31, 2016 | Men's Squash
Princeton showed early fight, splitting the first two games in five of the nine matches, but Penn won the crucial third game in four of those five matches. Freshman William Oon had an especially tough match during the first shift at No. 8; he lost a 15-13 marathon, and then came back to win the second 11-7. Penn's Tyler Odell won the third 11-5, then closed out a tough fourth 11-9.
Junior Vivek Dinodia was also 1-1 in the opening shift, but he fell at the No. 4 spot. Freshman Clark Doyle (#1) and senior Michael LeBlanc (#7) hit the 1-1 mark in the second shift, but neither could get a second game.
Shah won the match of the day, and he had to rally to do so. After dropping the opener 11-8, Shah won back-to-back 11-7 games to take a 2-1 lead. Max Reed took an 11-7 win of his own in the fourth, but Shah had the late — very late — answers in a 12-10 win.
It gets no easier for the Tigers, who will head to Hartford, Conn., for a Sunday showdown at No. 1 Trinity tomorrow.
