Women's Swimming/Diving Finds Itself In Another Thriller vs. Yale, Harvard
January 31, 2016 | Women's Swimming and Diving
DAY 1 RESULTS
The competition between Princeton, Harvard and Yale in women's swimming and diving can stand up with just about anything in the Ivy League. That was the case one year ago, and it looks like nothing has changed this year.
Midway through the annual HYP showdown — held this weekend in Princeton's own DeNunzio Pool — Yale holds slight leads over both of its top rivals. The Bulldogs hold a 79-71 edge over Princeton and an 81-69 lead over Harvard.
The Tigers, who got individual wins from freshmen Elaina Gu (200 free, 1:49.23) and Janet Zhao (100 breast, 1:03.08), as well as the 200 medley relay of Sada Stewart, Olivia Chan, Nikki Larson and Maddy Veith (1:42.45), are leading Harvard 82-68. One year ago, Princeton rallied during the final day to tie the Crimson with a 400 free relay win, and the Tigers used that momentum to go into Boston and win the Ivy League title.
The three teams will return to DeNunzio Pool Sunday at noon to complete another likely thriller. The full meet will be streamed live on the Ivy League Digital Network.
