Overtime Losses, Forfeit, Costs Wrestling In Tight 18-15 Loss At Binghamton
January 09, 2016 | Wrestling
Princeton (2-5) led 12-9 after a comeback win by Ray O'Donnell at 285, but the Tigers forfeited 125, and freshman Pat D'Arcy dropped a tough 3-2 match on the second rideout at 133. D'Arcy rallied from a 2-0 deficit with a third-period takedown, but Jacob Nicholson scored the only escape in the extra session to take the win.
Junior Jordan Laster gave Princeton a final win, but his 2-1 decision wasn't enough to get the Tigers a team win.
Freshman Mike D'Angelo opened the evening with a 6-0 win at 149, and senior Judd Ziegler posted a 5-3 overtime win at 165 to give the Tigers a 6-3 lead. Binghamton won the next two, including an overtime win at 184, but 13th-ranked Brett Harner scored an 8-3 win at 197 to even the match.
Harner is coming off a third-place finish at Midlands; teammate Jonathan Schleifer, who became Princeton's first ever finalist at Midlands, missed the match due to injury, but is expected to be back following Finals for the Ivy League season.
