Day two was a success! Waking up relatively energized after a good night's sleep - in the comfy hotel beds - a delicious breakfast awaited us in the hotel lobby. Needless to say, chowing down on some pregame fuel was not an issue for this food-loving group. After breakfast, we packed up the bus and headed to the Netherland team's sports complex as we were excited to compete against them for the second and final time. From the start, we made our mark on the astro turf. Efficient transition, solid attack sets, and shutdown defense helped us to clinch another victory.Â
Once the game was over, our two teams conjoined over a nice lunch and chatted for about an hour as we continued to learn more about each others' lives and background information. It was such a lovely opportunity being able to make friends with some of the Dutch girls. Their optimistic, lively, and friendly personalities were so contagious and truly inspiring.Â
After saying goodbye and many thank-you's to the Dutch national team, our team loaded up the bus and headed back to the hotel for some relaxing downtime before going to explore the city of Zwolle. As a team, we walked around the city to find many cute stores, pretty scenic views, as well as addicting french fries and chocolate-covered waffles; to say the least.... we were some happy tourists!Â
Concluding the day with sets of dinners, separated by each of our four classes enjoying a meal and conversation with each other, we came back to the hotel- glad to have some more team bonding time in the lobby. Bodies lounging on the couches, constant laughter lingering, and smiles never ceasing, all of us were thankful for our time in the Netherlands but so excited for the time to come in Cape Town. A 4:45 wake-up call may be early, but South Africa.... here we come!
