Yet another action-packed day for us! This morning's hike to the peak of Lion's Head certainly put to rest any doubts about whether or not this trip involved intensive training. We were told the trek up the mountain would take 1-3 hours in both directions. However, Princeton women's lax, under the leadership of one of our speedier teammates, Anna Doherty, made it to the top in 28 minutes and back down in 21. Between the trek up and down we enjoyed breathtaking panoramic views of the city, ocean and surrounding mountains.
Â
Meanwhile, the other half of the team experienced a traditional South African flea market. Nestled right in the center of the city, our girls bartered and negotiated their way to some amazing gifts for families and friends: beautiful canvas paintings, handmade bracelets, bowls, necklaces and more!
Â
The afternoon was spent zip-lining between mountains and over valleys. The canopy tour included 11 "slides" and one (scary) swing bridge. The slides varied in length, with the longest one being 330 meters. Jumping off each platform elicited some nerves, but it quickly turned into exhilaration as we whipped our way through the mountain range, taking in the incredible scenery below.
We capped off the night with a lovely steak dinner on the waterfront.
Â
Up next: an all-day safari! Stay tuned as to whether or not we see all members of the big five: lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo, and rhinoceros.
