No. 10 Princeton Falls To No. 12 Brown, 13-9

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The No. 10 Princeton Tigers dropped its regular season finale to the No. 12 Brown Bears, 13-9, at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center on Sunday.
With the loss, the Tigers will be the No. 2 seed in the in the Northeast Water Polo Conference Tournament at DeNunzio Pool (Nov. 18-20). Brown won the tiebreaker over Princeton because of a bigger goal difference over the No. 3 seed Harvard.
Harvard will take on the No. 6 seed MIT in the tournament while St. Francis-Brooklyn and Iona will take part in the No.4 vs. No. 5 matchup. The Tigers will play the winner of Harvard, MIT on Nov. 19 at 3:30 p.m.

Similar to last night vs. Harvard, the Tigers were missing five players. Sophomore Michael Payne had five points while junior Jordan Colina had a hat trick. Junior Vojislav Mitrovic made 17 saves in the loss.
Brown jumped in front with the first two goals of the contest and led 4-2 after eight minutes of game action. The Tigers got within one on two occasions, but the Bears scored three straight and led 8-5 at halftime.
This time it was Princeton to go on a spurt, posting the first two goals of the second half, setting the score at 8-7 with 5:36 remaining in the third stanza. Brown responded with the next two tallies and went into the final quarter with a 10-8 advantage. Payne deposited one in the back of the cage just 20 seconds into the frame, but Princeton was held off the scoreboard the rest of way while Brown tacked on three insurance goals to get the win.
