Second Period Leads St. Lawrence to 4-1 Win Over Princeton

CANTON, N.Y. (2/13/16) - A three-goal second period helped St. Lawrence win a 4-1 game over Princeton in men's hockey this evening at Appleton Arena.
Sophomore David Hallisey scored the lone goal for the Tigers. Sophomore Ben Halford made a career high 35 saves in his first start of the season.
Nolan Gluchowski gave the Saints the early lead with a drive from the right point at 5:26 of the first. Eric Sweetman and Ryan Lough assisted.
A 2x1 short-handed breakaway goal by Tommy Thompson kickstarted the second period for the Saints. Gavin Bayreuther and Jacob Pritchard each scored within 1:17 of each other to end the second period with St. Lawrence holding a 4-0 lead.
Hallisey nothced his fourth goal of the season, and the only goal of the third period, with freshman Ryan Kuffner and sophomore Max Becker assisting.
Halford, who started his first game of the season, made 35 stops in the first 50+ minutes. Freshman Austin Shaw made his first collegiate appearance and stopped both shots he faced in the final 9:47.
Arthur Brey claimed the win in net for the Saints with 18 saves. St. Lawrence is unbeaten in its last six games and improves to 16-11-3 overall and 10-6-2 in the ECAC.
Princeton (5-18-2, 3-13-2 ECAC) heads back to New York next weekend when it takes on Union and Rensselaer on Feb. 19 & 20. Both games begin at 7 p.m.
