Rider Rallies For 17-16 Wrestling Victory; Tigers Now Prepare For EIWAs

Princeton junior Jordan Laster gave Princeton a 16-11 lead with a 5-2 win at 141, but Rider had the duo of Bryant Clagon (#20, 149) and Chad Walsh (#15, 157) waiting in the wings. Clagon took on Princeton freshman Mike D'Angelo, who showed impressive fight against the former All-American. Clagon led most of the match after early takedowns, but D'Angelo fought back with two of his own to get to within two points. D'Angelo nearly turned Clagon off an arm bar in the final seconds, but the Rider sophomore fought it off for the win.
That left it up to Princeton senior Adam Krop, who scrambled early and often with Walsh during an exciting first period. Walsh scored on a late throw to lead 2-0 after one, and he never relinquished that lead to continue Rider's 16-match win streak over its Mercer County rival.
Princeton led 7-3 after wins by 16th-ranked Jon Schleifer (who picked up his 20th win of the season) and a major decision by Abram Ayala, but Rider got the result it needed when Ryan Wolfe upset 10th-ranked Brett Harner at 197. These two met at Midlands, where Harner won in sudden-victory, but Wolfe scored the only takedown of the match late in the first during an eventual 3-2 win.
Princeton came back with wins from Ray O'Donnell (8-3, 285) and Pat D'Arcy (5-0, 125), but Rider's technical fall at 133 meant it could take the team match by winning two of the final three decisions.
