PRINCETON, N.J. (2/15/16) - The Princeton women's lacrosse team entertains Georgetown on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 1 p.m., on Sherrerd Field at Class of 1952 Stadium.
Eye on the TigersPrinceton is 2-0 on the season and ranked No. 9 in both national polls this week. The Tigers knocked off No. 4 Virginia 14-7 here one week ago and dropped Drexel 16-9 this past Wednesday on the road. Junior Olivia Hompe leads the offense with 11 points on nine goals and two assists. She has been the leader scorer in both games this season, including a six-goal game at Drexel on Wednesday to match her career best. Sophomore Abby Finkelston has five goals and one assist for six points and senior Stephanie Paloscio has three goals and two assists for five points. Sophomore Ellie McNulty adds four, while sophomore Camille Sullivan and Amanda Leavell have three apiece. Junior Ellie DeGarmo is 2-0 in goal with a .571 save percentage and a .798 goals against average. Sophomore Mary Kate McDonough played seven minutes at Drexel and made six saves on seven shots.
The Series
Princeton has a 12-8 advantage in the all-time series with Georgetown, which began in 1997. Nine games have been decided by one goal, and five have gone into overtime - including the last meeting here at Class of 52 Stadium, a 17-16 Georgetown overtime win in 2014. Princeton won last year's meeting, an 11-7 decision in D.C.
Scouting the Hoyas
Georgetown is 0-2 on the season but has faced solid opponents in Delaware, a 10-6 loss, and Maryland, an 18-8 loss. Corinne Etchison leads the team in scoring with three goals and three assists for six points. Kristen Bandos has scored four times and Francesca Whitehurst has a goal and three assists. Boosting the offense is Morgan Rubin's three tallies and a goal and an assist from Colleen Lovett. Maddy Fisher has started both games in goal and has a 20.87 GAA and a .250 save percentage in 43 minutes. Megan McDonald has come in on relief in both games and has a 10.15 GAA and a .435 save percentage in 77 minutes.
