PRINCETON, N.J. (4/1/16) - The Princeton women's lacrosse team will conclude a four-week road swing on Sunday when it visits Delaware. Game time is at 1 p.m.
Eye on the Tigers
Princeton is 6-2 overall and ranked No. 13 in the latest IWLCA coaches poll and No. 11 in the Inside Lacrosse media poll. The Tigers are coming off of an 8-7 win at Loyola as they make their final stop in a five-game road swing on Sunday at Delaware. Junior Olivia Hompe leads the offense with 28 goals and seven assists for 35 points. Sophomores Abby Finkelston and Colby Chanenchuk follow with 15 and 14 points, respectively. Chanenchuk sports a team-best 11 assists. Seniors Anya Gersoff, Stephanie Paloscio and sophomore Ellie McNulty contribute 12 points apiece. McNulty and junior defender Madeline Rodriguez have had the most success around the draw circle, while senior Liz Bannantine has the most caused turnovers, 12, and 15 ground balls. Junior goalie Ellie DeGarmo has 18 ground balls and a 6-2 record. She has a .531 save percentage and an 8.98 goals against average.
The Series
Princeton holds a heavy 18-7 edge in the all-time series with Delaware. The Blue Hens snapped a 17-game losing streak in the series last year with a 12-10 game at Class of 52 Stadium. It marked the Tigers only home loss of the 2015 season and propelled the team to close out the regular season 5-1, before a 4-1 run in the post season.
Scouting the Blue Hens
Delaware is receiving votes in both national polls this week and has an 8-3 record. The team is coming off of back-to-back one-goal losses to nationally ranked teams, at Stony Brook 8-7 and Towson 7-6 in overtime. The Blue Hens are unbeaten at home, 5-0 this season. They scored 11.45 goals per game and limit teams to 7.45. Casey Lyons leads the team in scoring with 43 points in nine games though she did not play in the team's last game. She has a team-high 23 assists and 20 points. Jamie Schwartz has the most goals with 25 and chips in six assists for 31 points. Shannon Hawley and Kara Dattellas have 24 and 21 points apiece. Becky Goshler, who has 13 goals and two assists, is the team leader in draw controls with 26, while Dattellas is second with 15. Erin Wein has caused 28 turnovers and adds 19 ground balls, two off the lead by Taylor Carpentier. Carpentier has every decision in goal and has a .487 save percentage and a 7.23 GAA.
