Women's Tennis Falls to Harvard, 4-3
April 10, 2016 | Women's Tennis
Harvard won the doubles point and split the singles matches to take a 4-3 win over the Princeton women's tennis team Sunday afternoon, shifting focus to Friday's visit from Columbia for Princeton's Ivy title hopes.
Harvard got wins on the first two doubles courts to secure the point, but Princeton responded with wins in three of the first four singles matches to take a 3-2 lead.
Princeton needed one of the last two matches to go its way, on court six or two, but both went for the Crimson. Harvard's Amy He closed out a straight-set win over Princeton's Alanna Wolff to tie the match at 3-3, and after winning a second-set tiebreak from Princeton's Katrine Steffensen on court two, Harvard's Nikki Kallenberg won the third set 6-1 to claim the match.
Pending Sunday's Columbia-Brown result, the Tigers will either be a match back of Columbia or even with the Lions entering Friday's 2 p.m. match at the Lenz Tennis Center (or Jadwin Gym if there's inclement weather). Penn and Cornell are also 3-2 in the Ivy entering next weekend's matches.
