April 22, 2016 | Women's Lacrosse
Princeton's Ellie DeGarmo was named the Epoch/Lacrosse Magazine national Player of the Week on April 19.
DeGarmo, who was also named the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week this Week, made 16 saves and thwarted a shot with 16 seconds left to lift Princeton to an 8-7 win over Cornell.
The Tigers had an up-and-down week, falling to Maryland 15-6 on Wednesday but picking up a victory over Cornell on Saturday. DeGarmo's 16 saves were a career high.
DeGarmo had nine second-half saves, helping the Tigers pull back from a 5-3 deficit and seal the crucial Ivy League win. She saved a Catherine Ellis shot with 16 seconds left to end Cornell's hopes of forcing overtime.
Add in the 13 saves DeGarmo recorded in the loss to Maryland, and she had a quality week. She now ranks fourth in nation with 10.75 saves per game.
