Four Tigers Named to IWLCA Academic Honor Roll; Team Earns Award

PRINCETON, N.J. (8/4/16) - The Princeton women's lacrosse team was honored by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) as an Academic Honor Squad. Additionally four players were named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll: Ellie DeGarmo, Anna Doherty, Olivia Hompe and Madeline Rodriguez.
A total of 93 Division I teams were honored for having cumulative team GPAs of 3.0 or higher during the 2015-16 academic year. Princeton has earned the honor every year since at least 2003*.
This is the first academic honor roll honors for DeGarmo, Doherty, Hompe and Rodriguez. In order to be eligible student-athletes must have achieved a GPA of 3.50 or greater or be a junior or senior.DeGarmo led the nation in save percentage for nearly the entire 2016 season and was named the C. Markland Kelly Division I Goalkeeper of the Year by the IWLCA ater having earned first-team All-America honors. The Ivy League Defender of the Year was a Tewaaraton Top-25 nominee and finished the season with a 53.6 save percentage, 171 saves, 32 ground balls, five caused turnovers and an 11-6 record.
Hompe was the team's leading scorer in 2016, scoring 47 goals and 12 assists for 59 points. She was a unanimous first-team All-Ivy League selection for the second consecutive year, while also earning first-team all-region honors as a Tewaaraton Top-25 nominee. In 2016 she scored at least three goals in eight games and had three six-point games and is currently riding a 36-game goal scoring streak that dates back to 2015. Hompe currently has 123 goals and 52 assists to sit 11th on the all-time scoring list at Princeton with 175 points, averaging 3.13 points per game.
One of Princeton's key defenders, Rodriguez is a second-team All-Ivy League selection. A three-year starter on defense she started in all 15 games in 2016 and led the team in both draws with 22 and ground balls with 28 and finished third on the team in caused turnovers.
An Inside Lacrosse preseason All-America, Doherty was injured this season and did not play. In 2015 she started all 20 games and had 26 points on 23 goals. She was second on the team in draws with 33 while adding 21 ground balls and 18 caused turnovers.
