Tigers Impress In Home Opener, Sweep North Greenville

The Princeton men's volleyball team posted one of its most efficient hitting performances in years and added a dominant serving performance in Thursday's 3-0 victory over North Greenville in the 2017 home opener.

Princeton hit .532 for the match — including .600 in each of the last two sets — and added seven service aces in the 25-16, 25-12, 25-19 victory over the Crusaders. The win, Princeton's second in a row, sends the Tigers into finals break with some positive energy.

All-EIVA middle blocker Junior Oboh enjoyed his return to Jadwin, posting 10 kills and two blocks while hitting .643 for the match. The middle duo of Oboh and George Huhmann dominated on both sides of the net; Huhmann had five kills on five swings and added five blocks.

Huhmann was one of four freshmen who made their Dillon Gym debut Thursday. Parker Dixon, a member of the Outrigger Invitational All-Tournament team last week, led all players with 13 kills and hit .571, while Shane Gooding had 32 assists and paced the efficient offensive showing. Greg Luck had a match-high six digs for Princeton, which returns to the court Jan. 29 when it heads to UCLA to open a three-match California trip.

Junior Kendall Ratter added five kills and a trio of service aces, all of which came early in the second set to help open an early lead. Classmate Billy Andrew added three kills and a pair of blocks during the final set.
