Phinney Named GPT Athlete of the Week, Earns Top Play of the Week

Senior goaltender Colton Phinney of the Princeton men's hockey team has been named the GoPrincetonTigers.com Athlete of the Week, presented by Coach USA.

Phinney became Princeton's all-time leader in career saves in the 113-year history of the program on Friday night. His first save of the second period against No. 19 Cornell was gave him the record that had been held by Ronald Dennis '83 for 34 years. Phinney now has 3,005 career saves.

On Saturday night he helped his team skate to a 2-2 draw with Colgate. He made several key saves on a Colgate offensive push late in the third and his play warranted him a place in this week's NCAA Ice Hockey Top Plays of the Week, coming in at No. 2. Check out the top plays:
