Three Tigers Earn Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-America Honors

Inside Lacrosse released its 2017 Face-Off Yearbook in January and Princeton finds itself amongst the rankings. As a team, the Tigers are ranked. No. 17 in the national poll, while three players were named preseason All-America.
Senior goalkeeper Ellie DeGarmo was named first-team All-America, senior Olivia Hompe was named second team and senior Amanda Leavell was named to the honorable mention team.
DeGarmo was named the nation's best goalie in 2016 after receiving the C. Markland Kelly Division I Goalkeeper of the Year award at the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-American Banquet. A first-team All-American, she was named first-team All-Ivy League, was named the Ivy League Defender of the Year and was a Tewaaraton top-25 nominee. DeGaro led the nation in save percentage nearly all season long and finished with a 53.6 percent save percentage on 171 saves with an 11-6 record, 32 ground balls and five caused turnovers.
Hompe led the Tigers offense in 2016 with 59 points on 47 goals and 12 assists. A third-team All-America, Hompe was a unanimous first-team all-league selection and first-team all-region selection and a Tewaarton top-25 nominee. She net her 100th career goal in 2017 and currently has 123 goals and 52 assists to rank 11th on the all-time scoring list at Princeton with 175 points. Averaging 3.13 points per game, Hompe has been held without a point just once in 56 career games and is riding a 36-game goal scoring streak.
A defender, Leavell has been a started since her freshman year. She led the team in caused turnovers in 2016 with 22 and was second on the team in ground balls with 24. At the center circle, Leavell had 14 draws, and her speed on the draw led her to score nine goals and chip in one assist for 10 points.

Princeton won its 12th Ivy League title, and third straight in 2016. With an 11-6 record the Tigers earned an at-large bid the NCAA Tournament to make its 24th appearance in program history.
The Tigers open the season on Saturday, Feb. 18 hosting Temple in a double-header with the men's program on Sherrerd Field at Class of 1952 Stadium.
