Fall Season Comes to a Close for Men's Golf Team
October 09, 2017 | Men's Golf
Sophomore Evan Quinn led the Princeton men's golf team for the fourth time in as many tournaments as the fall season came to a close for the Tigers Monday in Illinois.
Northwestern's Windon Memorial, held at Evanston Golf Club in Skokie, Ill., had nine top-100 teams among its field of 15 as of the Oct. 4 Golfweek rankings. Two of those, Penn State and Northwestern, shared the team title at -5 by four strokes over Indiana. Patrick Flavin of Miami (Ohio) and Brendon Doyle of Indiana shared medalist honors at -4 by one stroke over Northwestern's Everton Hawkins and Iowa State's Lachlan Barker.
Quinn tied for 23rd at +4 to lead Princeton and complete a fall in which he was the top Tiger at every event. He had a hole-in-one in Sunday's second round a week after freshman teammate Jake Mayer, who also had an eagle in the first round Sunday, posted an ace in Yale's tournament the previous week. Mayer's eagle was one of two for Princeton at the Northwestern event along with freshman Sam Clayman's in round two.
Princeton's results from the tournament are below and complete results are available via Golfstat here. The Tigers will compete again in February at the NIT Hosted by Arizona.
