National Champion/Olympian Robin Prendes Named To FISA Athlete Commission
November 17, 2017 | Men's Rowing - Lightweight
Robin Prendes '11, a two-time Olympian and former Roper Trophy honoree at Princeton, has been named to the FISA Athlete Commission through December 2019. In his new position, Prendes will serve as a representative for active elite rowers and to act as a liaison between FISA and the elite athlete community.
"I am looking forward to helping improve the athlete experience," Prendes told USRowing. "As an athlete, your main focus is on training and performing to the best of your abilities. My goal as an athlete rep is to support athletes so they can reach their full potential. If I can make an impact in either their training or racing, I will be happy with my work."
Prendes had a standout career at Princeton before competing at consecutive Olympics. He led Princeton to the 2009 and 2010 Eastern Sprints and IRA national championships, and he added a Henley Royal Regatta victory with the Tiger men's lightweights to cap the 2009 season. He was a recipient of the Roper Trophy in 2011, which honors the top male senior student-athlete of the University.
Prendes' career in international competition spans from 2006 to 2016 and includes eighth and 10th-place finishes at the Olympic Games in 2012 and 2016, respectively. He was a member of nine national teams: Junior (2006), Under 23 (2008, 2010), and Senior (2011-2016).
