No. 14 Princeton Drops No. 15 St. Francis-Brooklyn, 13-9, Earns No. 1 Seed In NWPC Tournament

PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 14 Princeton Tigers' (21-5, 8-2 NWPC) defense shined in the second half, allowing just one goal, in a 13-9 takedown of the No. 15 St. Francis-Brooklyn Terriers (13-11, 8-2 NWPC) at DeNunzio Pool on Saturday evening.
With the four-goal win, Princeton will now be the No. 1 seed in the Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Tournament (Nov. 17-19) at Harvard University. St. Francis-Brooklyn is the No. 2 seed, followed by Harvard, Brown, MIT and Iona. The Tigers will play the winner of Brown and MIT in the semifinals on Nov. 18 (5 p.m.).

Prior to the game, the team honored its four seniors, Eric Bowen, Jordan Colina, Ryan Hammarskjold and Vojislav Mitrovic.
St. Terriers scored three of the first four goals.
The Tigers got within one four separate times in the first half, but trailed 8-5 at intermission.
Princeton's defense held St. Francis-Brooklyn to one tally in the second half, outscoring the Terriers, 8-1.
After the Terriers jumped in front, 3-1, the Tigers closed with one, trailing, 4-3, after eight minutes. St. Francis outscored Princeton, 4-2, in the second quarter and took an 8-5 advantage into halftime.
The home squad pitched a shutout in the third stanza, jumping in front, 9-8. By the time that the Terriers scored again, it was the 2:54 mark of the fourth quarter and Princeton led 12-9. Princeton shut out St. Francis-Brooklyn for 13 minutes and 10 seconds.
