Riche and Thom Earn ECAC Hockey Weekly Honors

Junior Alex Riche led the ECAC Hockey league in scoring this week to earn ECAC Player of the Week honors. Riche, who entered the weekend with nine points had a five-point weekend as Princeton split with Arizona State. On Friday, he collected his first career-three point game. He scored the team's third goal and assisted on two others as the Tigers earned a 4-0 shutout of the Sun Devils. On Saturday he kept it going scoring the the first goal and then adding to his point total with another assist in the third period. Riche posted a +6 on-ice rating and won 54.1 percent of his face offs, while not drawing a single penalty.
Freshman Matthew Thom was also atop the scoring column in the league, for the freshmen, as he earned his first ECAC Rookie of the Week honor. A defenseman, Thom tallied two assists, finished with a +5 on-ice rating, blocked two shots and did not take a penalty. He helped the Tigers earn a shutout on Friday night by helping to hold the Sun Devils scoreless and to just 20 shots on goal.
