Women's Squash Dominates Home Opener, Sweeps Williams
December 02, 2017 | Women's Squash
The great start to the Princeton women's squash season continued Saturday afternoon in the 2017-18 home opener, as the fourth-ranked Tigers swept every game on their way to a 9-0 victory over 14th-ranked Williams College.
Princeton, which is building off a big Top-5 win over Stanford during the opening weekend of the season, may have won every match 3-0, but there were some hard-fought victories for the Tigers. Senior co-captain Kira Keating showed toughness in each of her games at the No. 7 spot, as she defeated Abigail LeBlanc 11-9, 11-8, 11-8 to claim her victory. Freshman Emme Leonard was pushed early in her match at No. 5, but she scored a pair of 11-7 wins over Ananya Mahalingam-Dhingra en route to her 3-0 win.
Senior co-captain Olivia Fiechter continues her strong senior season, as the three-time All-American dropped only six points in her win at No. 1, while freshman Raneem El Torky followed with her fourth win at No. 2. Classmate Mia Rosini won her collegiate debut at the No. 9 spot.
"The team prepared well this week for Williams," head coach Gail Ramsay said. "I think overall we had more power at the top of the lineup and our depth was also too much for them today. I think Mia Rosini played a great match winning her first varsity match as a Tiger."
Princeton will try to cap a perfect 2017 portion of the season Thursday night when it travels to Philadelphia to take on Drexel.
