Third-Ranked Women's Squash Finishes 2017 Portion Of Schedule Thursday At #9 Drexel
December 06, 2017 | Women's Squash
While the heart of the squash season always comes after the new year, the third-ranked Princeton women's squash team will look to head into the break with a perfect record Thursday night when it heads to Philadelphia to take on the ninth-ranked Drexel Dragons at the Kline & Specter Squash Center. The match will start at 6:30 pm.
Princeton is off to a 4-0 start this season, including a 9-0 victory over Williams last weekend, and it is the only team with a win over a Top-4 opponent already this season. The Tigers defeated fourth-ranked Stanford prior to Thanksgiving, one day after the Cardinal upset Penn during the season-opening weekend.
The Tigers have gotten contributions from all classes, including senior co-captains Olivia Fiechter and Kira Keating, who have combined to go 6-0 this season. Three-time All-American Olivia Fiechter has shown early health at the top spot, where she has gone 4-0 and has yet to drop a single game.
On the other side of the ladder, head coach Gail Ramsay has gotten impressive showings from her freshmen, including No. 2 player Raneem El Torky, who is also unbeaten on the season. Classmate Mia Rosini won her collegiate debut over the weekend, while Emme Leonard had a big win in the Tigers' 6-3 victory over Stanford.
Drexel is just outside the Top 8, and needs one statement win to get in the hunt for a Howe Cup berth. The Dragons have been competitive against a couple Ivy League teams this season, including Columbia (6-3 loss) and Penn (7-2).
