ECAC Home Stretch Begins for Tigers at Yale/Brown

EYE ON THE TIGERS
Princeton is coming off of a 5-4 win over No. 4 Penn State at the Wells Fargo Center, the highest ranked team the Tigers have defeated this season. Princeton resumed action after pausing for two weeks for semester exams, and is 8-11-2 overall. After all the teams in the league have finally caught up to the Tigers in league games played, Princeton is now 10th in the league standings at 3-9-2. Sophomore Max Véronneau has 25 points on seven goals and a team-best 18 assists. Linemate Ryan Kuffner has the most goals on the team with 10 and chips in 11 assists. Freshman Jackson Cressey is just one point back with 20. Junior David Hallisey has 18 points on eight goals and 10 assists, with sophomore defender Josh Teves leading the blueliners in points with 13. Senior Colton Phinney has started in all but one game in goal and has an .898 save percentage and a 3.55 goals against average.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Yale is on a 6-1-2 run since the New Year began and overall is 10-7-4 after a 4-6-2 start to the season. This past weekend the Bulldogs posted a series sweep of Brown, 4-3, 4-1. Sophomore Joe Snively owns 26 points on eight goals and team-high 18 assists, while senior John Hayden (CHI) is one point back with his 16 goals and nine assists. Junior Ryan Hitchcock and senior Frankie DiChiara add 19 and 14 points apiece, followed by defenders Adam Larkin and Charlie Curti with 10 and 11. Senior Patrick Spano has made 16 starts in goal and owns a .915 save percentage and a 2.39 GAA. Backup Sam Tucker has appeared in six games and started in the team's last game, against Brown. He has an .869 save percentage and a 3.45 GAA. Overall Yale averages 3.14 goals per game and allows 2.81 gpg. The power play ranks just ahead of Princeton, tied for 11th, at 21.4 percent (21/98), while the penalty kill is at 84.4 percent (81/96).
THE PRINCETON/YALE SERIES
Yale leads the series with Princeton 140-104-11, since the teams first met in 1901. Last year, the squads split the series with the Tigers winning 4-2 in New Haven before the Bulldogs returned the favor with a 6-0 win in Princeton.
SCOUTING THE BEARS
Brown enters the weekend with a 4-16-1 overall record and is tied for 11th in the league standings with a 3-11 mark. Since January, Brown has just one win under its belt, a 4-3 overtime game at Dartmouth, while losing six, including a pair to Yale last weekend. Junior Sam Lafferty (PIT) sits atop the scoring column with 27 points on eight goals and 19 assists. It's junior Charlie Corcoran, however, that has the most goals with 13, while adding 11 assists. Junior Max Willman (BUF) is next on the depth chart with nine goals and 10 assists for 19 points. Freshman Gavin Nieto has started in 18 of the team's 21 games in goal and has an .875 save percentage and a 3.97 GAA. Senior Tim Ernst has an .875 and a 3.40 in his seven games as the backup. The Bears have one of the highest scoring defenses in the nation, giving up 4.19 goals per game, while scoring 2.38 gpg. The power play ranks 57th (9/84), while the penalty kill is 60th (75/107).
THE PRINCETON/BROWN SERIES
While Brown leads the all-time series, 86-67-10, Princeton is 1-0-1 in the last two meetings. The Tigers took a 4-2 game in Providence last year before the teams played to a 2-2 tie at in Princeton in February.
