Véronneau and Cressey Named All-ECAC Hockey

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (4/17/17) - Sophomore Max Véronneau was named second-team All-ECAC Hockey, while Jackson Cressey earned a place on the All-Rookie Team it was announced at the annual ECAC Hockey banquet.
Véronneau finished second on the team in scoring with 35 points on 11 goals and 24 assists. He played on a potent scoring line with that attributed for a third of Princeton's points. Véronneau led the nation in scoring two straight weeks during the season, helping him earn two ECAC Player of the Week honors and the league's December Player of the Month. In addition he was named the NCAA Ice Hockey first star of the week on Dec. 13, one week after being named the nation's third star. His best game was a four-point performance in an overtime win over Rensselaer in December, just a night after scoring twice and chipping in one assist against No. 18 Union. The next weekend Véronneau tallied three assists in Game 1 and two goals and one assist in Game 2 of a series sweep of No. 7 Quinnipiac. His most notable goal was the overtime game winner against Colgate in Game 2 of the ECAC first-round series.
A finalist for ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Year, Cressey tallied 33 points and led the team in assists with 26. His 33 points is the fifth most collected by a Princeton rookie in his debut, while he ranks seventh in the nation in points per game for rookies. Cressey led the league rookie's in scoring in conference games with 23 points on five goals and 18 assists. He had nine multiple-point games for the Tigers. Cressey had an eight-game point scoring streak during Princeton's December run, and had another seven-game streak in Ferbuary - which helped him earn the ECAC Rookie of the Month in both December and February. A two-time ECAC Rookie of the Week, Cressey's season best was a four-point game over Rensselaer in December - when he scored the game-winning goal in overtime, while assisting on three other goals.
Head coach Ron Fogarty was one of three finalists for the league's Coach of the Year.
Princeton finished with a 15-16-3 overall record and was seventh in the ECAC standings. The Tigers won their first playoff series since 2009, to advance to the quarterfinals. The Tigers were one of the most improved teams in the country this season: after starting 0-6-1, the Tigers then went 7-2-1 in their turnaround season that saw them grab home ice for the playoffs for the first time since 2012. The squad earned six NCAA Top Plays during the year as it nearly doubled its offensive output from 2015-16 to 2016-17, scoring 43 more goals (103-06).
