Fogarty Named ECAC Hockey Coach of the Year Finalist
March 08, 2017 | Men's Ice Hockey
Princeton head coach Ron Fogarty was named a finalist for the 2016-17 Tim Taylor Coach of the Year Award, it was announced by ECAC Hockey today.
In his third season at helm of the Tigers, Fogarty has led Princeton to the ECAC quarterfinals for the first time since 2009. He also helped the Tigers to earn home ice in the playoffs for the first time since 2013 as the No. 7 seed. With a 15-14-3 overall record, the Tigers have nearly matched the previous three seasons win total combined, 16. Picked to finish 12th in both preseason polls, Princeton burst onto the national scene thanks to a 7-2 run between Thanksgiving and Christmas. The Tigers won seven games against ranked opponents, including a sweep of No. 10 Bemidji, No. 7 Quinnipiac and a win over No. 4 Penn State at the Wells Fargo Center.
This past weekend, the Tigers defeated Fogarty's alma mater Colgate in a first-round series - ending a nine-game winless drought against the Raiders.
