With both Penn State and Sacred Heart off this weekend, the Princeton men's volleyball team can take the top spot in the EIVA by itself this weekend, though it will need a strong road performance to pull it off.
The Tigers (8-7, 6-2 EIVA) will head to Newark Friday night to take on the NJIT Highlanders (7-7, 3-3), who are currently part of a wild middle of the pack in conference play. A 34-32 thriller in the second set pushed Princeton to a 3-1 home win over NJIT earlier this season; Parker Dixon led all players with 22 kills in a match that ignited his AVCA National Player of the Week award. Senior Jonah May paced the offense, which hit .393 in the win, with 53 assists, while Kendall Ratter added 18 kills and five blocks.
NJIT's Jabarry Goodridge added 19 kills, and he currently leads the EIVA with 4.3 kills per set.
Friday's match will be the final league contest for Princeton until March 31, when the Tigers head to Penn State to open a five-match EIVA stretch.
The Tigers will return to Dillon Gym Saturday at 7 pm to take on Coker College, which is currently 9-5 on the season. Three of its five losses have come to EIVA members Penn State, George Mason, and Harvard.
The Princeton staff will be hosting a free volleyball clinic for high school age boys prior to the match with Coker. The clinic will be in Dillon Gym from 2pm-3pm Saturday. Any and all high school age boys are welcome to attend. To sign up please email Coach Shweisky (shweisky@princeton.edu).
