McBride Named Ivy League Player Of The Week

Hey, it's something new for Gavin McBride - an individual honor.
McBride, a senior attackman for the Princeton men's lacrosse team, had five goals, including the game-winner with 6:55 to play, as Princeton's 13-11 win over Stony Brook Saturday night. For McBride, it was the fourth-straight game in which he's had five goals, something no other player in Princeton history has ever done.
His performance earned him the Ivy League Player of the Week award.
McBride scored two goals in the first half against Stony Brook and then tied the game at 9-9 with 11 seconds to go in the third. His fourth made it 11-10 Princeton with 9:37 to play before Stony Brook tied it for the final time, followed by the fifth by McBride to put the Tigers ahead for good.
For McBride, who has become one of the most reliable scorers Princeton has ever seen and one of the most consistent scorers in Division I, it was the first individual honor of his career. McBride last year scored more goals (26) than any other player who was not named to any of the All-Ivy League teams, and he has the 10th-longest current streak in Division I in consecutive games with a point (38 straight) and fifth-longest streak in consecutive games with at least one goal (19).
Beyond that, McBride also has at least three goals in 12 of his last 15 games. He currently ranks 19th all-time at Princeton with 84 career goals, and he is currently first in the Ivy League and third in Division I in goals per game.
Princeton, ranked 14th by the media this week, is at Lehigh Tuesday night (7) before playing at Dartmouth Saturday.
