Dombrowski Cards Third-Round 67 to Finish as Ivy Runner-Up
April 23, 2017 | Men's Golf
Putting together the best round at the Ivy League Championship in two years, senior Alex Dombrowski carded a 67 in Sunday's final round to finish second at The Stanwich Club in Greenwich, Conn.
Dombrowski's score is the best in any round at the Ivy tournament since 2015, when two players, including Dombrowski's former teammate and that year's champion, Quinn Prchal, also finished with a 67. No player has shot below 67 at the Ivy tournament since 2009, when Columbia's Brendan Doyle had a second-round 66.
Dombrowski highlighted his round with an eagle on the par-4 11th hole, one of five holes on which the senior had a birdie or better in Sunday's round.
Cornell's Mike Graboyes held off Dombrowski and Harvard's Daniel de la Garza, both of whom finished at +1 for the weekend, to win the tournament at -2.
Dombrowski's finish helped Princeton jump from sixth to third place. Harvard won the tournament at +10 by 15 strokes over Cornell and by 17 over the Tigers. After turning in a 303 in each of the first two rounds, every Tiger had or matched his best round of the tournament to allow the team to finish with a 3-under 285, the best round of the tournament by any school by a stroke over Columbia's second-round 286.
