Four Tigers Named All-Region

PRINCETON, N.J. (5/12/17) - Ellie DeGarmo, Olivia Hompe, Amanda Leavell and Madeline Rodriguez of Princeton women's lacrosse players captured first-team all-region honors it was announced today by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA).
The four Tigers are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-America teams, which will be announced on Wednesday, May 17.
DeGarmo leads the nation in save percentage for the second consecutive season. She is a Tewaaraton-Top 25 nominee, first-team All-Ivy League honoree and the Ivy League Tournament MVP. Last weekend she set Ivy League tournament records for saves in a game and in a tournament as Princeton won the tournament.. This year she has posted a 14-3 record and has a .551 save percentage and ranks fourth in the nation in saves per game at 12.0. DeGarmo has made double digit saves in 12 games this season, with a career-high 18 in a win over Syracuse. A first-team All-America in 2016, DeGarmo was named the 2016 Goaltender of the Year in Division I Lacrosse.
Named as a top five finalist for the Tewaaraton Trophy yesterday, Hompe earns her third first-team all-region honor. Hompe is the 2017 Ivy League Attacker of the Year and for the third time earned unanimous first-team All-Ivy League honors. This year was also the third time Hompe was named to the Ivy League All-Tournament team, after setting six records in points, goals and assists in a single game and in a tournament series. With 70 goals and 103 points this season, Hompe holds the Princeton single-season record in both categories. She is the all-time leading scorer and goal scorer at Princeton, undoing an 18-year record, with 278 career points and 193 career goals. Hompe leads the nation in goals per game (4.12), shots per game (8.47), is third in points per game (6.06) and fourth in free-position percentage (70.5%).
Princeton's defense was recognized as both senior Madeline Rodriguez and Amanda Leavell earn first-team honors.
Rodriguez is a second-team All-Ivy League defender who has started in every single game since freshman year. She ranks second on the team in draw controls with 31, second in caused turnovers with 17 and is third in ground balls with 30. She has helped the defense limit opponents to 9.68 goals per game and 50 fewer shots than their own team. The defense has been credited with allowing just 70 percent of shots to make it on frame and in many games have help the opponent's leading scorer without a goal.
Leavell was named second-team All-Ivy League and earned her second Ivy League all-tournament team selection this year. She is the team leader in ground balls with 34 and caused turnovers with 21. She also adds 21 ground balls. Leavell has scored one goal and two assists this season because of her battles around the center circle.
Princeton, the No. 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament will host the winner of the Cornell/Notre Dame first-round game on Sunday, May 14 at 1 p.m.
