Princeton is making its 25th NCAA Tournament appearance, as the No. 5 seed. The Tigers won the Ivy League Tournament to earn the league's automatic bid and after earning an first-round bye defeated Cornell 11-9 in the second round to advance to the quarterfinals. At 15-3 the Tigers are ranked No. 5 in both national polls and third in the NCAA RPI. The Tigers are averaging 14.67 goals per game and are limiting teams to 9.72 goals per game. Princeton ranks 10th nationally in assists per game, as 52 percent of its goals have been set up. The Tigers clear, is strong as well at 90 percent.
Princeton packs a 1-2 punch with goalie Ellie DeGarmo and attacker Olivia Hompe, both first-team All-America selections. What makes it even more special is the balanced scoring around Hompe, and the stingy defense in front of DeGarmo. Hompe leads the nation in points and goals per game with 107 points on 72 goals and 35 assists. She is also second on the team in ground balls with 33, Junior Colby Chanenchuk is the team leader in assists with 37, while also scoring 13 times for 50 points. Freshman Tess D'Orsi is just one point back with 37 goals and 12 assists. Junior Elizabeth George is playing her best lacrosse, scoring 14 points in the last five games and has 34 points overall. She is the team leader in draws, winning 35. Junior Ellie McNulty and sophomore Kathryn Hallett add 29 points apiece, while senior Anna Doherty has 27 points, netting 11 of those in her last four games. Defensively, Madeline Rodriguez and Amanda Leavell have the most caused turnovers and the most ground balls. Rodriguez and McNulty have 33 draws apiece, right behind George's 35. DeGarmo has started in every game and has a .556 save percentage and a 9.80 goals against average with 219 saves. She adds 25 ground balls and has caused four turnovers.
