Volleyball Sweeps Bryant; Harris, Sklaver Named To All-Tournament Team
September 02, 2017 | Women's Volleyball
Junior Caroline Sklaver completed a brilliant opening weekend of the 2017 season in style. The middle blocker recorded 11 kills on 18 swings for a match-best .556 attack percentage, and she added six blocks and four digs to help Princeton post a 3-0 win over Bryant University in the final match of the Beantown Challenge.
Sklaver joined sophomore setter Jessie Harris, who recorded 33 assists, nine digs and six blocks, on the all-tournament team.
After two thrillers Friday, including a comeback win over Boston College in the season opener, Princeton took care of business in quick, efficient fashion Saturday. The Tigers hit .267 for the match and had five players with at least five kills, including sophomore rightside starter Maggie O'Connell, who followed her 22-kill effort against the Eagles Friday with an 11-kill, two-block showing against Bryant.
Sophomore Natasha Skov finished her first weekend as a starter with eight kills, while senior co-captain Kelly Matthews added seven kills and eight digs. Fellow co-captain Maddie Huber had a team-best 18 digs, while freshman Lauren Flaming added 14 as a defensive specialist.
The two-time reigning Ivy League champion will make its home debut Wednesday night at 7 pm against Seton Hall. Admission is free; if you can't get to Dillon Gym, you can watch the match live on the Ivy League Network.
