No. 11 Princeton Picks Up Weekend Sweep At Navy Open

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – No. 11 Princeton used a career-high six goals from Sean Duncan to earn a sweep at the Navy Open with a 17-11 decision over the host U.S. Naval Academy on Sunday morning. The Tigers are now 4-0 to begin the 2017 campaign.

In the last three seasons, Princeton has not lost at the Navy Open, winning 11 times.

The Tigers scored the first three tallies as they held Navy without a goal to begin the game. In front, 4-2, after eight minutes, Princeton had three different goal scorers in the second stanza as it kept Navy at bay and took a 9-5 lead into halftime. The home team posted the first goal of the third period, but over the next three minutes, Princeton added on five more tallies, making the score, 14-7. Navy wouldn't get any closer than six the rest of the way.
The Tigers will now head open to host the Princeton Invitational (Sept. 8-10). Head coach Luis Nicolao's team will take on Chapman (5:00 p.m.) and Johns Hopkins (8:30 p.m.) on Friday.
