LIVE VIDEO: All Matches
LIVE STATS: Villanova l Albany l Connecticut
After a wild home-opening 3-2 victory over Seton Hall Wednesday night, the reigning Ivy League champion Princeton Tigers will continue their challenging early-season schedule with three matches this weekend in Philadelphia at the Villanova Tournament. That stretch begins at 1:30 pm Friday when the Tigers take on the host Wildcats.
Both live video and live stats will be available for all matches; you can find links for all at the top of this release.
Princeton (3-1) has gotten off to a strong start despite missing sophomore All-Ivy outside hitter Devon Peterkin, who is dealing with a preseason injury. Classmates Maggie O'Connell, the reigning Ivy League Rookie of the Year, and Natasha Skov have picked up a majority of the offense in her place; both recorded at least 20 kills against Seton Hall, and they are combining for nearly 8.5 points per set through the first four matches.
The junior middle duo of Nnenna Ibe and Caroline Sklaver has also had a strong start to the season. Sklaver, who joined setter Jessie Harris on the Beantown Classic all-tournament team last weekend, is third on the team with 3.1 kills per set and leads the unit with 1.0 blocks, while Ibe is averaging 1.3 kills and .9 blocks per set.
The challenges will be consistent throughout the weekend, starting with a Villanova unit that is 4-2 on the season and has only lost to Top-20 programs. The Wildcats have five players averaging at least five kills per set, and three with at least three points per set, including freshman Mallory Potts (3.5 kills per set). Albany is looking for its first win of the season entering the weekend, while Connecticut is 4-2, with both losses coming by 3-2 scores.
