Ferland Named ECAC Rookie of the Week and GPT Athlete of the Week

Princeton freshman goaltender Ryan Ferland was named the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week following his back-to-back ties against the No. 1 team in the nation St. Cloud State. Ferland was also named the Suburban Transit/GoPrincetonTigers.com Athlete of the Week.

Ferland was name the first star of the game in both games this weekend against the Huskies. St. Cloud entered the weekend with the fourth-best scoring offense and was held to just five goals on the weekend, thanks to Ferland's efforts. On Friday night he made 14 of his 37 saves in overtime to protect the tie for the Tigers. On Saturday, he made a career-high 43 stops in a 2-2 draw. For the weekend, Ferland finished with 85 saves for a .941 save percentage.

The Tigers are the first team in the ECAC to face No. 1 ranked St. Cloud this season, a team that is now 12-2-3 on the season.

Princeton returns to league action this weekend, Jan. 5 & 6, traveling to No. 5 Cornell and No. 17 Colgate.
