Reigning EIVA Finalist Princeton Releases Schedule; Tigers Slated For Challenges On Both Coasts

A staple of the Princeton men's volleyball team over the last few years has been to face a challenging non-league schedule in order to be as prepared as possible for the EIVA slate, and that philosophy paid off last spring with the program's third trip to the EIVA final in the last eight years.

No reason to change that up now, right?

Princeton, which will head to Italy and Slovenia over fall break to both compete and develop camaraderie, will face the likes of Pepperdine, UCLA, USC, BYU, and Hawaii away from Dillon Gym, and it will even host an annual Top-10 program in Lewis University, all in preparation for an EIVA league that has seen greater parity recently. After Penn State won every league title between 1999 and 2015, three different programs have won the league over the last three years.

Princeton would love to make it four in four this season.

"We are incredibly excited for the upcoming season and feel very fortunate to have a non-conference schedule that includes some of the top teams in the country," head coach Sam Shweisky said. "Getting to compete at Pepperdine, UCLA, USC, and BYU will be an honor, as those are historic volleyball arenas that come with a robust local fan base who have a great appreciation for high-level volleyball. Hosting Lewis will be a fantastic opportunity to have in a top-10 team in our gym and we can't wait to play Big West powerhouses Hawaii and UC-Irvine on the road."

"Of course the most highly anticipated match is with Purdue Fort Wayne, where sophomore Cade Keegan will have the chance avenge last year's loss to his brother," Shweisky added. "But before all of this, we can't wait for our amazing foreign trip to Italy and Slovenia over fall break, where we will play 4-5 top European clubs and national teams. The season is set up beautifully, now all that is left to do is to put in the hard work and enjoy the journey."

Princeton returns an All-American in George Huhmann, as well as 2018 EIVA All-Tournament Team honoree Greg Luck and former All-EIVA selection Parker Dixon.
