Reigning IRA Silver Medalist Princeton Lightweights Welcome Impressive Class of 2022

Princeton lightweight head coach Marty Crotty was thrilled with the development of his team during the spring of 2018 — a stretch that included a Vogel/Goldthwait Cup title, silver medals at both Sprints and the IRA Championships, and a run to the Henley quarterfinal — and it was even more exciting to know that the majority of his varsity boat included underclassmen.

It probably didn't hurt that Crotty had an idea of who would be joining his program for the following year. The Princeton lightweights welcomed 10 talented rowers into the Class of 2022, and it is a group that brings both significant national and international success.

Andrew Berg
Wellesley, Mass. • Belmont Hill

Before Princeton — won silver in the men's 4+ at the 2018 Youth Nationals with the Belmont Hill School … won silver in the M8+ at the 2017 Club Nationals … earned silver in the 4+ at the 2018 NEIRA Championships; earned bronze at the same event in 2017 … named Most Improved Rower as a junior … played hockey for 10 years before switching to rowing; competed in the 2014 US Hockey National Championships … four-year rowing letterwinner … team captain … 2018 Peer Leader … 2017 Belmont Hill Community Service Award for service.

Oliver Crane
Lawrenceville, N.J. • Peddie School

Before Princeton — placed first in the 4+ at the 2017 Mid-Atlantic Championships … two-year letterwinner in cross country … recipient of both the Latin Scholar Award and the Presidential Volunteer Service Award … took a gap year to row solo across the Atlantic Ocean.

Personal — born July 19, 1998 … son of David Crane '81 and Isabella de la Houssaye '86 … has three older siblings: Cason, David '17 and Isabella '18; also has a younger brother Chris … enjoys hiking and traveling … plans to study history at Princeton.

George Dickinson
London, England • St. Paul's School

Before Princeton — led St. Paul's School to a Henley Royal Regatta course record in winning the 2018 Princeton Elizabeth Challenge Cup … stroked England to a gold medal in the M8+ in the 2018 World Junior Championships … won gold in back-to-back National Schools Regatta Championships … set a course record in winning the 2018 Head of the River Championship and the 2017 Head of the Charles Regatta … set the fastest school 8+ time (5:36.6).

Personal — born July 1, 2000 … son of Nancy and William Dickinson … has an older sister Lizzie, who is a coxswain at Edinburgh University … enjoys cycling and photography … plans to study engineering.

Joe DiMarino
Moorestown, N.J. • Moorestown

Before Princeton — placed fifth in the 4+ at the 2018 Youth Nationals while rowing with South Jersey Rowing Club … placed 11^th at 2017 Youth Nationals … club went undefeated in local competitions on Cooper River … active in community service … class president … founder and CEO of DiMarino's Landscaping … earned highest honors all four years … AP Scholar … member of the Honor and Service Society.

Tim Scheuritzel
Narbeth, Pa. • Haverford School

Before Princeton — won gold at both the 2018 Scholastic National Championships and the City Championships in the 4+ … placed first in the U19 4x at the 2018 Canadian Henley for the Conshohocken Rowing Center; also took second in the U19 4x at the 2018 Club Nationals … won gold in the U17 2x at the 2016 Canadian Henley.
