Fiechter, Ibrahim Enter CSA Individuals As #2 Seeds; Teammates Look For 2nd-Team All-America Honors
March 01, 2018 | Men's Squash, Women's Squash
The final weekend of the 2017-18 college squash season will take place in Washington, D.C., over the next three days, as the best male and female players will compete for both the national championship and All-America honors.
While the majority of the Princeton competitors will be in either the Molloy (male) or Holleran (female) draws to compete for second-team All-America honors, the top players from both sides will enter the main draws as the #2 seeds. Senior Olivia Fiechter, who is on her way to a fourth straight All-America season, is the #2 seed on the women's side following a 15-2 senior year, and she will open competition Friday at 12:20 pm against Harvard's Amelia Henley, who played #5 for the national champion Crimson. On the men's side, 2018 Ivy League Rookie of the Year Youssef Ibrahim will try to follow a 14-4 season with a national title, a journey that also begins at 12:20 Friday against Rochester's Tomotaka Endo.
The main draws will feature both the Round of 16 and quarterfinal matches on Friday, a semifinal on Saturday and then the championship matches Sunday afternoon. You can find all the main draws here.
The rest of the Princeton players are spread out over the four (North, South, East, West) draws in the Molloy and Holleran Cup fields. There are eight women in the Holleran Cup field, including five who were drawn into the West bracket. Ironically, the top two seeds in that draw are freshman teammates Raneem El-Torky and Grace Doyle, though teammates Kira Keating, Madison Soukup, and Kate Feeley will try to stop the All-Princeton-Freshman final. Emme Leonard, Samantha Chai, and Isabel Hirshberg will also be in competition over the weekend.
The only men's player joining Ibrahim in the field this weekend is freshman Cole Becker, who will enter the Molloy West bracket as the #2 seed.
