Eye on the Tigers
With a 3-2 record, Princeton is ranked No. 16 in the latest IWLCA poll. Freshman Kyla Sears paces the offense with 23 points on 18 goals and five assists, scoring on 85.7 percent of her shots on goal. Junior Kathryn Hallett adds 12 goals and two assists for 14 points and sophomore Tess D'Orsi has 12 points on eight goals and four assists. Senior Ellie McNulty and freshman Marge Donovan have won 20 draw controls apiece. Junior defender Alex Argo has a team-high 13 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers. In goal, senior Mary Kate McDonough has a .443 save percentage and an 11.38 goals against average in her five starts.
The Series
Princeton has a 23-16 edge in the all-time series with Penn State, which began on May 5, 1982. The Nittany Lions have won the last three meetings including last season's NCAA quarterfinal game, a 14-12 decision, that ended the Tigers' season. Princeton's last win in the series was a 12-11 game during the 2015 regular season.
Scouting the Nittany Lions
Penn State is 6-3 on the season and have on its last three games including an 18-13 win at Rutgers on Saturday. Maria Auth sits atop the scoring column with 33 points on 27 goals and six assists while Madison Carter has scored 31 times and adds one helper and has won 57 of her team's 141 draw controls. Katie O'Donnell has tallied 25 goals and adds three assists. Kelly Daggett is the team leader in caused turnovers and ground balls with 20 caused turnovers and 19 ground balls. Madison Cunningham and Lucy Lowe have split time in goal. Cunningham has played in all nine games, with four starters, and has a .412 save percentage and a 12.66 GAA. Lowe has eight appearance, five starts, a .489 save percentage and a 10.59 GAA.
