Kwak Leads Tigers at NCAAs as Men's Competition Opens

Friday saw Maia Chamberlain and Kasia Nixon win NCAA individual titles for the Princeton women's fencing team, and Saturday began the Tiger men's pursuit.
Rookie saber Daniel Kwak ended the day as the top Tiger, standing sixth with 10 wins. The top four fencers in each weapon's 24-fencer fields will advance to the individual title brackets, and fourth place stands at 11 wins heading into Sunday's competition.
Senior saber Edward Chin stands 17th, while sophomore foil Samuel Barmann stands 14th in his weapon, rookie foil Julian Knodt is 22nd, and junior épée Wasley Johnson is 12th.
Princeton is seventh in the team standings with 93 wins between the men's and women's competition as Notre Dame leads with 157, 17 in front of second-place Columbia with Ohio State (122), Penn State (119), Harvard (106) and St. John's (101) rounding out the top six spots in the 27-team field.
Competition will resume for all three weapons at 9 a.m. Sunday with individual semifinals beginning at 1:30 p.m. and finals following. The individual semis and finals will be streamed on ESPN3.
