Princeton Drops 3-2 Finale, Prepares For EIVA Semifinal Against George Mason
April 14, 2018 | Men's Volleyball
George Huhmann followed up his Friday night masterpiece in State College with 23 kills, seven digs and a .356 hitting percentage, while the senior duo of Junior Oboh and Trey Sickler combined for 10 kills and no errors in the final regular season matches of their careers, but Saint Francis held off the Tigers on Senior Day for a 3-2 home win Saturday.
Saturday's match had the potential to be a win-or-go-home scenario for Princeton entering the weekend, but the Tigers took care of business Friday night by earning the program's first win ever in State College, Pa. The 3-0 victory over Penn State clinched a postseason berth and the fourth seed for Princeton, which couldn't move up further with a win Saturday.
Princeton will open the postseason Thursday night at George Mason, with the winner set to face the victor of the Harvard/Penn State semifinal.
Sophomore Parker Dixon added 13 kills and four digs, while classmate Greg Luck added nine kills, seven digs and five blocks. Freshman setter Joe Kelly recorded 41 assists, while classmate Niko Gjaja came off the bench to add 11 assists. Libero Corry Short recorded eight dig, while Kelly, Luck and Huhmann added seven apiece.
